South Africa

  • Sourced from old bush vines from Paarl and Drakenstein. No irrigation is used in the vineyards and very little crop control is needed due to the age of the vines naturally restricting yield. All grapes are harvested by hand. Produced from only free run juice, part of the blend is naturally fermented and a tiny percentage in old barrels. The wine is left on fine lees for an extended period for greater palate weight and mouthfeel. Andersbrook Chenin Blanc is a fresh, dry Chenin with orchard fruit and citrus aromas with soft, delicate orchard fruit on the palate well balanced by crisp acidity. Try with salads, pork dishes, or chicken
  • Andersbrook Shiraz is a rich, fruity, medium bodied red with spicy aromas with blackcurrant and forest fruits. Vibrant, positively humming with sappy wiry fruit with a bright mineral palate, cranberry fruit and a long, essential finish. The vines are trellised and planted in the shale soils towards the north east parts of the valley bordering the Swartland region. They are produced from only free run juice and fermented on skins in stainless steel tanks. The wine is left on fine lees for an extended period for greater palate weight and mouthfeel. This wine was made with the barbecue in mind, it’s a great partner to homemade burgers or sticky spare ribs 14% Vegan
  • South Africa’s most popular grape variety. Youthful, fruity character and a fresh, zesty acidity. Very well-balanced. A great partner for pork, chicken and vegetable dishes with a touch of sweetness to them
  • Full bodied wine with powerful varietal flavours of pineapple, granadilla, melon and green apple. It has plenty of tropical fruit on the bouquet and the palate is quite well-bodied, more citrus fruit in character and has a lovely refreshing, crisp finish
  • A full-bodied red wine with concentrated dark fruit flavours and a hint of smoke. Soft and smooth with a lot of power this is a robust wine with a smooth finish
  • Bertie Coetzee represents the sixth generation of his family to farm Lowerland, on the banks of the Orange River near Prieska in the Northern Cape. Let’s not beat around the bush: traditional wine country this isn’t. The desertlike climate is peculiar, being approximately 29 degrees south so on the outer limits of what’s considered prime latitude for vines, but the African heat is moderated by over 1,000 metres of altitude and consequentially high diurnal range. Generally conditions are dry and therefore favourable for organic farming, on which Bertie is something of a visionary. Once picked, the grapes are driven for 12 hours south to Stellenbosch, where the wines are made by two of the best young talents in the Cape, Thistle & Weed (aka Stephanie Wiid & Etienne Terblanche) and Lukas van Loggerenberg. Syrah (46%), Merlot (42%), Cabernet Sauvignon (6%), Petit Verdot (6%) Medium Bodied, Dry 12.78% abv Die Verlore Bokooi (translates as 'the lost goat') is a marvellously enjoyable red wine, the 2016 vintage chosen as a 'Hidden Gem' in the 2018 Platter's guide. This non-vintage blend of the 2017 and 2018 vintages was made by JD Pretorius, and blends Syrah, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot. All varieties were fermented naturally and separately. Lighter than the 2016 release, the nose starts with fresh cherries, musk and notes of eucalyptus and cedarwood, supported by the balanced acidity of mid-palate. Elegant finish with hints of white pepper and roast beef. A wine for all occasions - this Bokooi hits the sweet spot between elegance, complexity and drinkability.
  • This pale-pink strawberry-scented South African classic is perfect with chocolate or cheese. Alternatively, enjoy in a tall glass with ice, soda, fresh ginger, a sprig of mint and a squeeze of lemon. Bottled ready to drink and can be kept open in the fridge

Serve with a variety of red meats and pasta dishes.
  • This Spier Signature Sauvignon Blanc has refreshing aromas and flavours of crisp/fresh tropical fruit, nose with passionfruit and gooseberries and grassy, with a little bit of basil (herbaceousness). Layers of tropical fruit, subliminal figs on the palate. Well structured and balanced.
  • Fermented with Bordeaux yeast strains in tank with French oak staves, and then completed malolactic fermentation and maturation on staves for 4 months. A crowd pleasing medium to full-bodied wine with typical Cab flavours of red and black berries and cigar box augmented by toasty oak. The wine has a lovely rich mid-mouth texture, a long, fruit-driven finish with fresh acid and evident tannins which will soften with a little bottle age. Excellent with a large variety of dishes, especially steaks, chops, home-made burgers, sticky roast pork belly and lasagne
  • This wine has a bright aroma and flavour of tropical fruit. Honeydew melon, guava and pineapple with an underlying savoury minerality and a lick of wood. The wine has a great texture and a long layered finish with bright acidity keeping it fresh and vibrant

  • Medium to full bodied with spicy black cherry and black berry fruit, chewy savoury mid palate and evident wood flavors. The wine has a well- rounded mid palate with creamy berry flavours which carry through to the finish of the wine where they are supported by soft tannins. Most of the grapes were destalked and fermented in tanks with French oak staves, with malolactic and maturation being completed on staves. Approximately 20% of the wine was fermented in small open fermenters and hand-punched before being pressed off into small French and American oak barrels of varying ages
  • This bush vine Chenin Blanc is pure, expressing peach and passion fruit with a lick of white pear. A crisp palate with a semi scented finish. It’s a total smasher, perfect with lighter meals, pear and walnut salads, grilled fish or scallops
  • The Raconteur Syrah is pure, expressing a fruit-forward front palate of blackberries and black current with a lick of toast. A juicy mid-palate, soft tannin with a semi scented finish. • Painted Wolf Guillermo Pinotage is a bright vibrant red with spicy red berry fruit, ripe tannins and a long lingering finish. Named after Billy 'Guillermo' Hughes, one of the first investors in the winemaking and conservation venture that is Painted Wolf
  • Painted Wolf ‘Penny’ Viognier from Swartland South Africa is a beautiful harmonious wine with a powerful exotic bouquet of lime and stone fruit and spicy wood with a long balanced finish
  • The wine is named after the esteemed South African, Abraham Izak Perold, credited with the development of the Pinotage variety. He toured Europe extensively to explore international grape varieties, returning with some 177 examples! The collection still exists at the Welgevallen Experimental Farm of the Stellenbosch University. However, the development of Pinotage was somewhat fortuitous, Abraham having left crossings of Pinot Noir and Cinsault in his garden while he was traveling. If it wasn't for young lecturer, Charlie Niehaus, who rescued the seedlings, this controversial variety may never have taken off! A fresh red from South Africa with a vibrant purple colour. It is packed with lively red berry and sweet black cherry fruit flavours and there’s a hint of spice and smokiness on the finish
