Based in the Colchagua Valley just south of Santiago, Vina Casa Silva as a winery was re-established in 1997. It was done so by Mario Silva a fourth generation descendant from one of Chile’s oldest winemaking dynasties.
On their own, both Semillon and Gewürztraminer make superb sweet wines. This blend however is a true synergistic combination; the sum of the whole is greater than the sum of the parts. A melange of honey, orange blossom, apricot, lychee and rose water with balanced acidity so the wine doesn’t come across as cloying.
Try with apple or mango based desserts or bliss out on Munster cheese – often with a sprinkling of cumin seeds – but will also go with most stinky cheeses including Epoisses, Maroilles and Stinking Bishop – social distancing advised!
