Los Vascos is a vast estate that was acquired by DBR (Lafite) in 1988 which is located near Peralillo, within the Colchagua valley of Chile. Baron Eric de Rothschild searched for years for a vineyard that had the potential to produce world-class Cabernet Sauvignon, and his judgment was certainly accurate as Los Vascos has proven to produce some of the most elegant and complex wines in the region. Grand Reserve is in essence the 2nd wine of Los Vascos blending Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, Malbec and Carmenère. A consistent, complex and magnificently well made wine.
The colour is an intense ruby, with aromas of black cherry, cassis, vanilla, tobacco, cinnamon, cedar and spices. Later, the nose develops into ripe black fruit such as mulberry and cherry with a note of blackcurrant. In the mouth, it is rich, round and fleshy. The tannins are silky and elegant and the wine has impressive length with a pleasant peppery and liquorice finish.
