Cave d’Alignan du Vent brings together tradition and modernity, not only by the diversity of its terroirs and grape varietals but also by its methods of plot selection and winemaking.
The terroir of Alignan du Vent benefits from a Mediterranean climate with strong, dry winds from the North which protect the vineyard, and an exposure which allows for a slow maturation of the grapes.
Nestled in the foothills of the Black Mountains, the vineyard of Coteaux de Neffiès forms an immense natural boundary between mountains and the Mediterranean Sea. One can only be surprised and amazed by the beauty and variety of landscapes and terroirs of clay, limestone, schist, gravel….
70% Syrah 30% Grenache
This cuvée comes from a poor, gravelly terroir with limestone areas and schist soils. The grapes are harvested on plots with good maturity. The grape varieties are harvested and vinified separately.
Black colour, deep with garnet shades. The nose is rich and opulent, with notes of liquorice, tapenade of black olives enriched by spicy notes and mocha. The approach in the mouth is silky, with beautiful concentration. Aromatic blackberry, very Mediterranean. The long and powerful finish is underlined by a good tannic presence in a subtly melted whole.
Good to go with fatty steaks like ribeye, grilled or barbecued red meats, mushrooms, roasted chicken, or charcuterie are all great options. Also goes very well with meals that have spices and herbs such as sage, rosemary, and red pepper
