Quinta do Portal is a family fine winemaking company that embraced with passion the ‘Boutique Winery’ concept. They proudly produce DOC Douro wines, premium Port Wines and Moscatel. This project that started in the early 90’s of the 20th century, had on its base a centenary estate where their family has been producing Port since the last years of the 19th century.
Quinta do Portal properties are located in the Cima-Corgo subregion, an area that has been showing very good balance regarding its resistance to climate changes. The vineyards are spread by 5 estates – Quinta do Portal, Quinta do Confradeiro, Quinta dos Muros, Quinta da Abelheira and Quinta das Manuelas – in a total of 100 ha under vines. The different altitudes and solar exposures and the variety of grape varieties allow them to produce excellent grapes that produce a diversity of wines of great quality.
Port Quinta do Portal, LBV (Late Bottled Vintage) Port, is made from a mixture of several grape harvests, and grown on soils with a high content of granite and slate.
LBV Port differs from the vintage that is aged in old oak barrels from 4 to 6 years. Prolonged contact with the wood softens the wine, making it more fragrant, elegant and rich.
The wine has an elegant structure and reveals nice, juicy fruit with dominant tones of ripe cherries. Long aftertaste different intriguing complexity. In the wonderful fruit and berry aroma is dominated by shades of mature plums in the frame of the notes of cinnamon and other spices.
Port as a digestive is good in its pure form, but also in combination with cheese, chocolate or a cigar!
