Having fallen in love with Puglia, Giovanni Battista Cantele and his wife Teresa Manara decided to move to Salento to establish a winery in the late 1950s. The whole family is now involved in the business and carries on the legacy with the same passion and energy. While the primary focus is on local varieties like Primitivo, Negroamaro and Bombino, the winery also produces pure expressions of international varieties.
A blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Negroamaro grown in the municipalities of Salice Salentino, San Pietro Vernotico and Guagnano, which are located in the region of Puglia in the south-east of Italy.
A soft, no-fuss Negroamaro that is more than worth the money. It offers fresh fruit on the nose that is reminiscent of cherries and some cassis. It is soft and round on the palate.
Can be enjoyed on its own or with hearty bowl full of pasta drizzled in spicy tomato sauce (throw in some veggie meatballs just for the hell of it), and of course pizza!
