Literally translated as ‘wines of the palace’, Viña Palaciega wines are handcrafted in the traditional Rioja style. Viña Palaciega source grapes sourced from small vineyard sites across all three of the Rioja regions; Alta, Baja and Alavesa, choosing the best grapes from each region. Winemaker Rodrigo Espinosa partially crushes the Tempranillo grapes, leaving a high proportion of full berries made from Tempranillo and Garnacha.
Both native and selected yeasts are used.
This wine is a garnet-red colour with tawny hues around the edge of the glass. It’s super fruity and packs a punch of jammy, stewed fruits with underlying notes of its barrel cask ageing, tones of vanilla and spice can also be noted on the palate. The resulting wine is Smooth yet robust with a sturdy flavour. It is well-structured with a lingering finish and quenched mouth.
Ideal to accompany meatballs (veggie good too) with pasta, chorizo stacked pizza or Lancashire hot pot
