Wine comes in at the mouth
And love comes in at the eye;
That’s all we shall know for truth
Before we grow old and die.
I lift the glass to my mouth,
I look at you, and I sigh.
Obviously Yeats was referring to the lovely glass of red wine he had in his hand, that was issuing the smell of sweet summer fruits, evening violets, along with gentle wafts of liquorice and clove, smooth, textured, silky and well absolutely just right!
Whether its light and fruity, with or without oak, bold and butch or just a bit of everything, there is a red for everyone. And don’t forget that most reds like to chill out in the fridge before opening – except for the big chunky guys who prefer warmer climes…
And just when you think you’ve found your one, along comes sparkling red! Yes indeed! Delicious it is too, especially served slightly chilled and savoured whilst sat in the shade on a lazy summers afternoon…
